The decision was made in acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions on the diplomatic front
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The federal government has decided to confer the country’s highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, on Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in recognition of his outstanding contributions on the diplomatic front following the Marka-e-Haq.
Sources said the decision was made in acknowledgment of Pakistan’s recent success in key diplomatic efforts and international forums, where Bilawal Bhutto Zardari played a vital role in effectively presenting and defending Pakistan’s stance.
Following the recent conflict with Indian in May this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif jad assigned PPP Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari the critical task of promoting Pakistan’s call for peace on the global stage, in the wake of the recent military escalation with India.
In a post, Bilawal had said he was honoured to accept the responsibility and remained committed to serving the country in “these challenging times”.
In June, the former foreign minister, while talking to media in London, said Pakistan continued to advocate for peace, while India persists with its war narrative.
Bilawal emphasised that the Pakistani armed forces had proven their ability to defend the country, and Pakistan always exercised its right to a strong defence when needed.
Addressing the broader context of regional relations, he stated, “The people of both Pakistan and India want to live in peace.”
