RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legal team on Friday received eight power of attorney documents signed by the party founder, Imran Khan, confirming his authorisation for legal representation in ongoing cases.

Barrister Salman Safdar confirmed that the signed documents have been received in compliance with the order issued by an anti-terrorism court.

The development follows multiple petitions filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, in the Lahore High Court and anti-terrorism court.

In her petitions, she argued that despite repeated requests, the jail authorities were not allowing the power of attorney documents to be signed and returned.

The documents were required to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against a recent decision of the Lahore High Court involving the PTI founder.

Aleema Khan approaches court seeking permission for Imran to sign power of attorney

Earlier, Aleema Khan had approached the court seeking permission for Imran Khan to sign a power of attorney.

The application was filed through Barrister Salman Safdar and other lawyers on behalf of Aleema Khan.

The petition states that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected the bail applications, and it is the PTI founder’s right to challenge that decision in the Supreme Court (SC).

According to the petition, signatures on the power of attorney by the PTI founder are necessary for filing an appeal in the SC.
