LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday met Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar to discuss the province’s overall political situation, ongoing development projects in South Punjab, and public welfare initiatives in detail.

During the meeting, the deputy speaker praised the efforts of the CM regarding the construction and rehabilitation of roads across Punjab, stating that under the CM’s leadership, the province is moving towards a new era of progress.

Channar expressed gratitude for the establishment of a burn center in Bahawalpur, calling it a commendable step in providing basic healthcare facilities at the doorstep of the people of South Punjab.

He appreciated public-friendly projects like the Field Hospitals, Clinic on Wheels, and the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic Project, describing them as revolutionary changes in Punjab’s healthcare system.

The deputy speaker termed the vision of uniform development across all cities under the Punjab Development Program a "game changer" and praised initiatives like the Air Ambulance Service, the establishment of field hospitals, and anti-encroachment measures.

During the meeting, principled approval was given for the establishment of a Children's Hospital in Bahawalpur, which will be constructed near the Civil Hospital. The CM requested a detailed project plan, stating that Punjab’s development is very close to her heart.

She emphasised that bringing South Punjab into the mainstream of development is her government's top priority, and that people-centered decisions are an essential part of her governance vision.

Channar concluded by saying that under the leadership of CM Maryam, Punjab is on the path of real and sustainable progress, and that pro-people decisions are the hallmark of her government.
