LAHORE (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has announced a three-month sentence reduction for prisoners in Punjab on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to prison authorities, the sentence reduction applied to 1,606 inmates across Punjab’s jails, benefiting those convicted of minor offenses.
The Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi will see the highest number of releases, with 105 prisoners set to regain their freedom.
However, the sentence reduction does not apply to prisoners convicted of terrorism, murder, kidnapping, or other serious crimes. The decision has sparked jubilation among eligible inmates.
