HYDERABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh chapter president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has urged the Centre to roll back its plan to build new canals on Indus River.
Addressing a rally in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Nisar Khuhro said that we reject controversial canals' project on Indus River. He said that the plan to build new canals carried greater negative repercussions for Sindh than the controversial Kalabagh Dam project.
Khuhro said that the canals project is more dangerous than the Kalabagh Dam, it will turn Sindh barren. He said the PPP would use all available means to stop the construction of these canals..
He said that the PPP will not remain silent on projects that threaten Sindh’s water resources. The PPP will fight against the canals project at all constitutional forums, as well as in the streets
Nisar Khuhro said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had been openly speaking against this project. He said that the PPP chairman will visit Hyderabad after April 4 in this connection, then go to Mirpurkhas, Karachi and other cities.
