Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro to hear cases
ISLAMABAD (Haseeb Arslan) – In a major relief for overseas Pakistanis facing property and other disputes, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has appointed a special bench to handle their cases.
According to an official notification, the acting chief justice of the IHC has designated Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro to hear cases, appeals, and revisions related to overseas Pakistanis. This decision has been made under the Establishment of Special Court (Overseas Pakistanis Property) Act, 2024.
The initiative aims to resolve legal challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis, particularly in property matters. The notification was issued by Deputy Registrar (General) Muhammad Sarfraz Sharif on behalf of the Registrar.
The establishment of this special court follows strong advocacy from Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, and has been supported by Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani. Their efforts highlight the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of overseas Pakistanis.
This step is expected to speed up long-pending legal cases and provide a dedicated platform for overseas Pakistanis to resolve their property disputes efficiently.
