ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Advocate Mian Asif has filed an application in the Supreme Court (SC) against newly enacted 26th constitutional amendment.

The application filed under 184 (3) making federal government, attorney general and Ministry of Law respondents.

The pleader contended that Parliament couldn’t make an amendment in the constitution to snub the independence of the judiciary.

The independence of judiciary was a pillar of the constitution therefore parliament interference in judicial matters undermined judiciary’s freedom and provision of justice.

The applicant requested the court to annul the 26th amendment in the constitution.

It is pertinent to note that already an application had been filed by Afrasiab Khattak in the SC against newly enacted 26th amendment that made PML-N, PPP and all other parties respondents.
