It is pertinent to mention here the hearing could not be held on May 23 last due to the absence of a larger bench. The court has sought report from the FIA, the PTA and the IB.

It may be recalled that on May 14, the IHC had issued notices to the attorney general office, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and other agencies after initiating contempt proceedings against them on a smear campaign against Justice Sattar on social media.

BACKGROUND

On May 8, the IHC had formed two separate benches on the issue after Justice Sattar and Justice Kayani wrote to Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, seeking contempt proceedings against those involved in leaking personal details of the family of Justice Sattar and running malicious campaigns against him on social media.
