ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal cabinet on Tuesday expressed its dissatisfaction over a report of an Inquiry Commission into Faizabad sit-in by observing that the commission had not adhered to its Terms of Reference (ToR).

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, directed to constitute a special committee of the cabinet that would submit its recommendations in this regard.

The Attorney General for Pakistan submitted an inquiry report over the matter and gave a detailed briefing to the cabinet.

However, the prime minister blamed the report for having significant flaws and not sticking to the Terms of Reference (TORs).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need to reconsider the report and proposed the formation of a special cabinet committee in this regard. This special committee will review the Faizabad Dharna Commission Report and provide its recommendations to the prime minister.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had also raised concerns over the report prepared by the Commission.

The cabinet also adopted a resolution expressing condolences on the killing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and their companions in a helicopter crash.

The meeting also granted its approval to the recommendation of Ministry of Interior for duty and tax exemption on the equipment donated to Balochistan police by Guangdong Public Security Department, China.

However, under Federal Excise Tax 2005, the federal excise duty would be imposed on these items.
