Supreme Court fixes plea seeking revocation of Feb 8 polls

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The petition of citizen Ali Khan in the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking to declare Feb 8 elections null and void has been fixed for hearing. 

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, will hear the case on Feb 19. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali are members of the bench. 

The petitioner has made the Election Commission of Pakistan and the federal government respondents. 

The petitioner also submitted that the formation of a new government be halted and fresh elections held under the supervision of the judiciary within 30 days.

The petitioner requested the apex court to order a probe into allegations of rigging in the election and stern action against the elements involved in malpractice.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Jamaat-e-Islami, and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam have been protesting across the country against alleged rigging in the Feb 8 elections.
