ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC), while hearing petitions filed by PTI founder and Bushra Bibi, against trial for solemnizing Nikah during Iddat, extended stay order till January 31.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq conducted hearing of the case. PTI founder and Bushra Bibi's counsel Salman Akram Raja could not appear before court. Assistant lawyer to Salman Akram Raja prayed to the court to adjourn hearing of the case till next week.

Bushra Bibi's former husband Khawar Maneka's counsel Raja Rizwan Abbasi requested the court to vacate the stay order. He was of the view that usually the parties who had been given relief did not attend court hearings.

The court, while extending the stay order till January 31 against trial of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi for solemnizing Nikah during Iddat, deferred hearing.

On this occasion, Raja Abbasi prayed to the court to fix the case for arguments the next day.

The court ordered the trial court not to record statements of witnesses till January 31 and said the arguments will be heard on 31st on this month and the stay order against trial will also be in force till the same date.

The PTI founder and Bushra Bibi, through appeal, had prayed to the IHC to dismiss the trial against them for making Nikah during Iddat period.
The court had indicted both PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi for solemnizing Nikah during Iddat period a few days ago.
