Contempt of ECP case against PTI founder, Fawad adjourned until after elections

Advocate Shaheen said the ECP was busy with election arrangements and sought adjournment again
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the contempt case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and Fawad Chaudhry until after the February 8 polls.
A four-member commission headed by Sindh member Nisar Durrani heard the case while Shoaib Shaheen and Faisal Chaudhry appeared on behalf the defendants.
Advocate Shaheen requested the bench to adjourn hearing until after the elections. He said there’s an impression that the commission was acting against one party.
Member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (retd) Ikram Ullah Khan said the ECP was not a party in the case.
The ECP counsel contended that witnesses have to record their statements. But Advocate Shaheen said the ECP was busy with election arrangements and requested again to put off proceedings.
He said that the commission could record statements of the witnesses after February 15.
Later, the ECP adjourned the hearing till February 20.
