ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The written order on the appeal of former Supreme Court judge Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi to issue stay order on the proceeding of Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against him was issued here on Wednesday.

The apex court said in its detailed verdict that Naqvi’s appeal to issue stay order against the proceeding of SJC is not admissible at this stage.

It was prayed in the petition of Mazahar Naqvi that the complaints against him must be declared politically motivated.

“We cannot declare that the complaints were filed with mala fide intentions without hearing the other party,” the detailed verdict said.

According to the detailed order, objection was also raised on the formation of bench during the last hearing but now it has been withdrawn.

The apex court ruled in the detailed verdict that the petition should be fixed for hearing after some necessary amendments in it.

Earlier, the SJC had launched proceedings against Naqvi after several misconduct complaints were filed against him during the tenure of former chief justice Umar Ata Bandial.

Mian Dawood, a Lahore-based lawyer, was the first to file complaint in which Mazahar Naqvi was accused of financial irregularities, especially the transaction of a plot located in a posh area of the provincial capital.
