ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Another resolution has been tabled in Senate for postponement of general elections scheduled on Feb 8.

Senator Hidayatullah tabled the resolution which mentioned "the prevailing security situation and terrorists attacks as the key factors for delaying elections."

The attacks on contesting candidates during election campaigns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Waziristan were also listed in the resolution as reasons for seeking delay.

The resolution addressed the Election Commission (ECP) to take responsibility to hold elections peacefully as well as provide every political party level playing field.

It may be noted that Senator Dilawar Khan had submitted a resolution on Jan 5 for election delay.
