KARACHI (Dunya News) – Raising concerns about the eligibility of returning officers, a tribunal judge on Saturday remarked that ROs may have arbitrarily rejected the nomination papers.

Appeals related to decisions made by returning officers for both political parties and independent candidates were heard in the Sindh High Court on Saturday.

Tribunal judge Adnan Al-Kareem Memon remarked that it seemed returning officers were arbitrarily rejecting nomination papers, expressing doubt about their ability to accurately identify the facts.

Justice Memon advised candidates and lawyers, stating, "Go, prepare for the elections, and actively participate."

Appeals of several PTI candidates against the rejection of their nomination papers were accepted by the election tribunal.

Notably, appeals from PTI candidates Subhan Sahil (NA-243), Imtiaz Afridi (NA-242), and Hasnain Chohan (PS-113) were accepted by the election tribunal.

Also, an appeal against the decision of the returning officer for PTI candidate Makhdoom Fazal from NA-243 was also accepted.

Independent candidate Rafia Hasan was granted permission to contest elections from PS-126, and appeals against the decisions of returning officers for independent candidates Jamaluddin and Dildar Ali were also accepted.

Furthermore, the tribunal accepted the appeal against the decision of the returning officer for Pakistan People's Party candidate Rauf Ahmed.
