ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Process of receiving appeals against acceptance and rejection of nomination papers for next general elections will conclude today.
The decisions on these appeals will be made by the 10th of current month.
The preliminary list of candidates will be displayed on 11th and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 12th of this month.
The electoral symbols will be allotted on the 13th of this month while polling for the general elections will be held on 8th of next month.
As many as 100 appeals had been filed till filing of this report. Nine judges of the Lahore High Court are hearing appeals against ECP's decisions to accept or reject the nomination papers.
Acceptance of nomination papers of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and party president Shehbaz Sharif has been challenged in the election tribunals. An election tribunal will hear today appeal against acceptance of Nawaz Sharif's papers from NA 130.
Meanwhile, Appellate Tribunal Judge Risal Hassan Syed conducted hearing of appeal against acceptance of Nawaz's nomination papers. The judge issued notice to the returning officer concerned and summoned him in person with his reply.
The PTI founder has also filed appeal against rejection of his nomination papers from NA 122. The PTI leader took the stance that returning officer rejected his papers ignoring the facts. He prayed to tribunal to set aside the decision.

Earlier, an election tribunal comprising Justice Arshad Hussain had refused to hear the appeal of PTI's Firdous Shamim Naqvi against rejection of his nomination papers.
After his refusal, the appeal will now be heard by a bench comprising Justice Khadim Hussain Tunio.
It may be recalled that Naqvi's nomination papers were rejected from the National Assembly constituency NA-236.
Meanwhile, the tribunal comprising Justice Tunio issued notice to the Election Commission (ECP) and the Returning Officer for January 4 on the appeal of Mazhar Junejo against rejection of his nomination papers in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-86 as an independent candidate.
