Pakistani mission in London holds Mehfil-e-Milad
LONDON (Haseeb Arslan) - A heart-warming Mehfil-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) was held at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Saturday.
According to a press release issued here, Dr Sarah Naeem, the high commissioner's spouse, and the All-Pakistan Women Association (APWA) UK chapter jointly organised the event to highlight the holy Prophet’s (PBUH) virtues of compassion, mercy and love for humanity.
The event, which drew a diverse gathering of British Pakistani women, featured tribute-speeches and soul stirring Naat recitals.
In her speech, Dr Sarah Naeem highlighted the importance of Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), and described his birth as a symbol of hope in a dark world. She emphasised his unwavering commitment to Islam which stands for peace, compassion and unity.
Dr Sarah Naeem explained that Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) was more than just a celebration of Prophet’s (PBUH) birth, saying it was an opportunity to reflect on his life and teachings, promoting kindness, justice and humility, regardless of social or economic differences.
She also stressed the Prophet's (PBUH) advocacy for education, social justice and fair treatment for all.
Echoing similar sentiments, other speakers emphasised Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) exemplary character, kindness and compassion for all, regardless of their faith. They said that in today's divided world, his message of unity, peace and compassion guided everyone towards justice, tolerance and understanding, rather than extremism or violence.
The speakers stated that Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) encouraged everyone to reflect on the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings, embody his kindness and commitment to justice and build bridges of understanding among peoples of all faiths.
The event underscored the holy Prophet's (PBUH) teachings which exemplified the principles of tolerance, respect and equitable treatment of all, including minorities.
The gathering offered special prayers for the people of Palestine who are facing aggression for many decades. They also prayed for the well-being of women and children in Gaza, concluded the press release.
