PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Afghan artists on Tuesday filed a writ petition in the Peshawar High Court not to send them back after the government gave the deadline of Oct 31 to illegal foreigners to leave the country.

The petition stated that they were registered with UNHCR by token mentioning that the music was banned by the Afghan Taliban, and therefore they cannot continue the art in Afghanistan.

The petition adopted the view that according to the UN treaty, the refugees cannot be forced out however, they can go back voluntarily. It was added that despite the treaty in place, the Afghan refugees were being harassed.

The artists requested the court to stop the forced return of Afghan refugees.

The federal government, ministry of home affairs, NADRA, DG Immigration and FIA have been made parties in the petition.
