LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed a petition seeking live broadcast of court’s proceedings.

Dismissing the petition, the court declared the request inadmissible.

LHC Judge Shams Mehmood Mirza heard the petitions filed by a citizen, Mohammad Shahbaz, and others. Shahbaz also made the federal government and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) parties.

The petitioner said court proceedings were broadcast live in different countries including India and its audios and videos should be recorded. He requested the court through the petition that lawyers of small cities be allowed to join court proceedings through video link.

The live broadcast of the court’s proceedings should be ordered, the petitioner requested.

The judge directed the petitioner to move to the Supreme Court as the LHC lacked authority to issue a direction on this issue.
