LHC grants Rawalpindi police 'last chance' to recover Rashid

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday gave one “last chance” to regional police officer (RPO) to recover former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
The court asked Rawalpindi RPO Syed Khurram Ali and CPO Khalid Hamadani about the progress on the matter of recovery of former minister. The RPO sought more time for his recovery saying that the force was trying to find his whereabouts.
The RPO told the court that the five officers who arrested Rashid could not be contacted.
The court expressed anguish and asked the RPO how much more time police needed to recover Rashid and observed that it would be the last chance. The court gives you a week’s time after that it will announce decision.
Rashid’s counsel Advocate Abdul Razzaq submitted that almost a month has passed since his client’s arrest and police failed to find him. He requested the court to summon Punjab police IG and secretary defence.
The court remarked that everyone knows in whose custody police gave Rashid after his arrest.
Later, the hearing was adjourned for October 27.
