Urges provincial and district administrations to ensure passing of relief to the masses
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Sunday said the transporters were bound to reduce fares and freight charges as the government had significantly decreased prices of petroleum products.
The minister urged the provincial and district administrations to play their role in this regard in order to pass on relief to the masses.
In a post on X formerly Twitter, Solangi said the government had reduced petrol and diesel prices by Rs 40 and Rs 15, respectively.
“Whenever prices of these products rose, the transport sector increased freight charges and transportation fares. Now, they (transporters) are bound to provide relief to the masses by reducing them,” the minister said in his post.

Earlier on Sunday, Solangi said concerted efforts were underway to ensure the upcoming election in a peaceful and amicable environment. Talking to a private TV channel, the minister said the caretaker government had been performing its duties and responsibilities in accordance with the constitution and law.
He said the political activities should be observed in a way that did not affect the day-to-day affairs of the general public. “If anyone is facing harassment, they can approach the Election Commission,” he said.
He added the ECP was a constitutional body. Solangi said the caretaker government wanted good terms with all the political parties.”We want to create a pleasant environment for elections and we want elections that are acceptable to everyone,” he added.
The minister said the electoral history of Pakistan suggested that the polls were held in the country during extreme weathers. The first election was held in December 1970, he added.
