CPEC transformed lives of millions of Pakistanis: Solangi

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Tuesday said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a game-changer project which had changed lives of the millions of Pakistanis since its launch in the country.

Murtaza Solangi says as CPEC project enters new phase, Pakistan looks forward to enhance bilateral cooperation with China in mining, agriculture and IT sectors.

He was addressing a seminar in Islamabad titled 'CPEC and My Life' on Tuesday night.

The Information Minister said Pakistan and China are iron brothers and the government is keen to take this relationship to new heights.

He said the two countries are celebrating tenth anniversary of CPEC, which is a flagship project of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and provides a framework for regional connectivity.

The Minister said the initiative will not only benefit China and Pakistan but also Iran, Afghanistan, central Asian republics and the entire region.

He said projects under CPEC have focused on major infrastructure, boosting income and increasing employment opportunities for the people. The enhancement of geographical linkages through improved road, rail and air transport system will increase people to people contacts and enhance understanding through academic and cultural linkages.

Murtaza Solangi said that projects like Tharcoal in Sindh, Orangeline train in Lahore and Gwadar in Balochistan have benefited millions of people in Pakistan. He said the Special Investment Facilitation Council provides one window facility in Pakistan for investors.

The Minister expressed the hope that higher volume of trade and business will result in integrated development and bring fruits of progress to our two peoples. He said CPEC is a journey towards economic growth in the globalized world based on ideals of peace, development and win-win model for all.

The Minister expressed delight that people from grass-root level, who benefited from the projects in different ways, were invited at the seminar to tell how CPEC has transformed their lives.
