Says Maulana heads a large political party, ECP must have seen his statement

ISLAMABAD (APP/Web Desk) – Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Monday stressed the need for open but civilised debate and discussion over the problems being faced by the country, describing it as a prerequisite for finding solutions.

In his speech at the launching ceremony of renowned author Dr Farooq Adil’s book “Humne Jo Bhula Diya: Tareekh Ke Gumshuda Awraq”, Solangi listed responsible journalism as a need of the hour. However, he also called for determining what responsible journalism really is.

Later, he told media persons that conducting free and fair polls was a responsibility of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) with the caretaker government duty-bound to assist the ECP in the process.

Replying to the questions about the latest statement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of JUI-F, the minister said Maulana was leader of a large political party. His statement about elections in winter must have been seen by the ECP top hierarchy and they would respond to the same.

Solangi also reiterated the stance that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s return had nothing to do with caretaker government.

On Sunday, Maulana had expressed concerns over the suggested timing of general elections in January and said the whole exercise would be a challenge for all political parties in the given circumstances.
