IHC seeks comments on plea against ban on crypto biz

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has stopped the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from taking action against people involved in cryptocurrency business and sought comments from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other respondents.

Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard the case against the SBP circular seeking stoppage of the cryptocurrency business.

The petition had been filed through lawyer Chaudhry Ali Abbas.

The petitioner adopted the stance that the SBP had banned the cryptocurrency business which had affected the common people.

The petitioner named the federation, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and FIA in the case.

The petitioner requested the court to declare the circular issued by the SBP regarding the cryptocurrency business unlawful.

The court served notices to the respondents and adjourned the case.
