Accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir issues notice to the former finance minister
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – An accountability court in the federal capital on Tuesday summoned former finance minister Ishaq Dar on October 10 as an asset-beyond-means-case was reopened by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against him.
Accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir issued notice to Senator Ishaq Dar and adjourned the hearing till October 10.
The assets-beyond-means case was closed after approval of NAB amendments by the parliament. Records of the case was already in the court. The anti-corruption watchdog has reopened corruption cases against dozens of political leaders following the ruling of the top court against amendments to the NAB laws.
A bench headed by outgoing chief justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah had declared amendments made by the previous coalition government to accountability laws unconstitutional.
Justice Shah had however given a dissenting note in the judgement. The court had invalidated some amendments made to the accountability laws, calling them contrary to the Constitution of Pakistan.
After the Supreme Court declared the amendments null and void, the NAB had sent the case back to the accountability court and proceedings on it have been started.
