Karachi's deputy mayor assures the victim's father of strictly punishing the negligent officials
KARACHI (Web Desk) - A toddler died after falling into an open manhole in Karachi's Malir district on Monday, witnesses and rescuers said.
The tragic incident happened at Memon Goth where the two and-a-half year boy slipped into a sewer.
According to his father Abdur Rehman, he had only one child. The father and son were visiting the area to attend a function when the tragedy struck them.
Karachi's Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad met Abdur Rehman and offered his condolences to him. He assured the victim's father of taking strict action against the officials responsible for the negligence.
Open manholes in the country's largest city have become a nuisance for pedestrians and motorists apparently owing to a lack of maintenance by civic agencies or thefts.
