Names for judicial commission sought from LHC CJ in IUB scandal
LAHORE (Dunya News) - In a major development regarding investigation into the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) video scandal, the Punjab Home department made a request to the Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice about the names for formation of the judicial commission.
The commission, would be constituted after getting names of the judges, to probe the alleged video scandal in the IUB.
The development took place after caretaker Punjab Chief Minister announced forming a judicial commission for investigation into the scandal.
Earlier, IUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Naveed Akhtar said that the chief security officer of the varsity had already been suspended and was in jail. He stated that the investigation committee’s reports would soon be available. He stated that the internal problems of the varsity would be resolved soon.
IUB Chief Security Officer Syed Ejaz was arrested on the charges of having drugs in his custody on the university premises.
The authorities concerned registered a case against him and sent the alleged recovered samples of banned drugs for forensics.
The police said they recovered 10 grams of ice from Ejaz. They said they also found obscene videos and photos from his cellphone.
The police had also taken IUB director finance into custody in this case.
