Attack took place on the first day of a week-long campaign to administer the polio drops

QUETTA (Dunya News) - Two policemen escorting a polio team were gunned down in Quetta on Tuesday. 

The tragic incident took place in Nawa Killi area of Quetta where the anti-polio drive was in full swing. 

The police officials were on duty to provide security to the polio teams when some assailants opened fire. The suspects fled the scene after firing.

The rescue officials and police reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to a nearby hospital. The deceased were identified as constable Shaukat Ali and Syed Muhammad.

The attack took place on the first day of a week-long campaign to administer polio drops to approximately 2.6 million children across the province.
