Banks to observe three holidays on Ashura

SBP announces two holidays on 28th and 29th

KARACHI (Web Desk) - The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday announced a two-day bank holiday in observance of Ashura. 

From 28th to 29th of July, 2023 (Friday to Saturday), the SBP and other banks will remain closed to the public. 

As it follows Sunday, banks will remain closed for three days. 

These days have been designated as official public holidays to commemorate Ashura. A notification to the effect has been issued by the central bank. 

The country will observe Muharram 9 and 10 on July 28 and 29 to remember the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in the battle of Karbala.
