KASUR (Dunya News) - The water level continues to rise in River Sutlej as India released over 70000 cusecs of water into Pakistan’s River Sutlej from Harike headworks on Tuesday.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday issued a high alert to the Punjab authorities to take prior precautions following the realse of water from India in the River Sutlej.
On the other hand, water from River Sutlej overflowed its banks and enter villages on both sides of the river. The flood water inundated village Sehjra near Kasur. Residents of the village moved to safer places on self-help basis as rescue teams failed to reach the area despite high alert issued by the PDMA.
Earlier, The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed the Deputy Commissioners of Kasur, Okara, Vehari and Pakpattan to complete the arrangements in advance. The PDMA has issued a high alert in view of the threat of floods in Punjab.
