ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday granted bail to PTI Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi and former minister Asad Umar in a case related to May 9 violence.
Barring the police from arresting the duo politicians, the high court has directed them to submit surety bonds worth Rs100,000 each for their bail.
The high court has also summoned record of the case from police till July 10.
A day earlier, the PTI leaders had gone to the IHC for bail but they told media that they were stopped by police from entering the court premises.
After police denied them entry, they appeared before the Peshawar High Court (PHC) where they were granted transitory bail, ordering them to ensure their appearance in the IHC on Friday.
The case was registered against Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar at Islamabad's Tarnol Police Station in connection with the May 9 violent protests.
PTI protesters had attacked military installations, besides damaging several public properties, in several cities of the country after the PTI chief was arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May.
