LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (R.A) is being observed with devotion and respect across the country on Wednesday.

Mourning gatherings and processions will be held in different cities today. Fool proof security arrangements have been made in this regard.

Participants will be allowed to enter only through walk-through gates, while closed-circuit cameras have also been installed on the routes.

Karachi

All educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed on the occasion.

In Karachi, the mourning procession will start from Nishtar Park and end at Hussainiyah Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

The procession will pass through Nishtar Park, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father James Road, MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Regal Chowk, Priddy Street, MA Jinnah Road again and then Bolton Market, Bhati Bazar, Kharadar, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road and will end by reaching Hussainiyah Iranian Imambargah.

Traffic will be diverted to Nishtar Road from Soldier Bazar, Coast Guards and Anklesaria Chowk. Commuters going to MA Jinnah Road from Nazimabad will be diverted from Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road and then Garden to reach their destination.

Traffic coming from Liaquatabad towards MA Jinnah Road will be diverted from Teen Hatti Chowk to Jail Road and Martin Road.

Apart from this, the traffic coming from Stadium Road towards MA Jinnah Road will be allowed to come from New MA Jinnah Road, these vehicles can go from Shahrah-e-Qaideen to Shahrah-e-Faisal via Dadabhai Naoroji Road, Kashmir Road and Light Signal Society.

Traffic coming from Gulberg towards MA Jinnah Road will be diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2 and it will be diverted via Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road and Shershah to Mauripur.

No traffic will be allowed to pass through Guru mandar Chowk on the procession route.

Rawalpindi

A mourning procession will be taken out from Imam Bargah Mohanpura Waqar Zaidi today.

Islamabad

The main procession in Islamabad will start from Imambargah Qasre Zainabia Sector G-5/4 and will end at its destination through the designated routes.

Review of security arrangements by DG Rangers

DG Rangers Major General Azhar Waqas reviewed the security arrangements regarding the main procession.

The DG Rangers was given briefing by the regional sector commanders about the security at Imambargahs, and the entry and exit routes of the procession.

More than 4,000 personnel will be deployed for the security of the main procession.
