CM Elahi approves 300 hybrid buses for Lahore in bid to protect environment
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi announced on Sunday to operate 300 hybrid buses in Lahore as part of yet another significant move for the Lahoriites.
The first phase of the project will include the construction of 200 new bus stops in addition to the 300 hybrid buses that the CM Elahi approved for procurement in an effort to protect the environment. The CM said the hybrid buses would be operated by the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) under private operators.
As Lahore is one of the top 10 most polluted cities in the world, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI), CM Elahi’s decision – about the hybrid buses – will assist reduce air pollution there.
