Dua Zehra Case: SHC allows Dua Zehra to decide her fate

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday allowed Dua Zehra to decide on her own that whether she wants to go with her parents or husband.

SHC while issuing a written judgment, disposed of the petition for recovery of Dua Zehra and also directed to produce the girl before the Lahore High Court (LHC).

She was further directed by the court to submit a challan after progress in the case against her husband Zaheer Ahmed.

The court said that in the light of the affidavit of Dua, the court has come to the conclusion that there is no case of kidnapping after considering all the evidence.

During the hearing, police presented Dua and her husband Zaheer before the court after the ossification test as per the court’s orders passed in the last hearing.

However, Dua’s father Mehdi Kazmi rejected the test report. I have been married for 17 years, how could my daughter be 17 years old? he argued.

At this, Justice Ghaffar remarked that the SHC had the petition seeking recovery which has now been made.

Present whatever you want to present in the trial court," the judge said while disposing off Kazmi’s petition.

Justice Ghaffar remarked that the court has Dua’s statement and it has to see the verdicts of the Supreme Court and federal sharia courts.

On the other hand, in a meeting held at a judge’s chamber, however, Dua said that she wants to come home, her mother said.

"My daughter said in the meeting that I want to go home. Dua said she will give her statement in court," the mother said, adding that police did not present her daughter in court and took her to a shelter home.
