IHC denies suspension of Election Commission's notice issued to PM

Stay order can not be issued without listening ECP: Justice Amir Farooq

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Hearing of petition related to violation of code of conduct by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and ministers during election campaign held here on Friday.

According to details, lawyer of PM Imran Khan urged Islamabad High Court to suspend the notice issued to the prime minister for violation of code of conduct. Islamabad High Court Judge Justice Amir Farooq denied immediate suspension of notice and stated that stay order can not be issued without listening Election Commission.

Earlier, Imran Khan had challenged the notice issued by Election Commission and the hearing was scheduled to be held in IHC on Friday on the request of Imran Khan and Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar.

As per sources, Justice Amir Farooq will conduct the hearing due to unavailability of Chief Justice (CJ) of IHC Athar Minallah.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman gave the authority to a citizen named Muhammad Zubair Sarfaraz, who addressed the reservations of the registrar office by doing biometric.
