Pakistan reports 5,472 COVID-19 cases, highest in over six months

The COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 9.48 percent.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan has reported 8 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,338,993. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,037 on Wednesday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 5,472 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.


Province-wise Details


Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 13,091 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,709 in Sindh 5,965 in KP, 969 in Islamabad, 749 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in GB.

Furthermore 509,308 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 455,499 in Punjab 182,619 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 112,557 in Islamabad, 34,811 in Azad Kashmir 33,744 in Balochistan and 10,455 in Gilgit-Baltistan.


Tests and Recoveries


Pakistan has so far conducted 24,297,430 coronavirus tests and 57,669 in the last 24 hours. 1,265,239 patients have recovered in the country whereas 908 patients are in critical condition.


Positivity Ratio


The COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 9.48 percent.


Vaccine Statistics


So far, 102,107,155 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 318,721 in last 24 hours. 77,485,124 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 442,884 received their second dose in last 24 hours.

The number of total administered doses has reached to 168,365,369 with 784,082 in the last 24 hours.
