Politicians should refrain from fighting their political battles in court, IHC on disqualification cases

IHC conducted hearing on filed petition seeking disqualification of Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday conducted hearing on filed petition seeking disqualification of Federal Minister for information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry.

On the contrary, the court has also heard plea seeking disqualification of former President and Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari filed by Member for Provincial Assembly (MPA) Khurram Sher Zaman.

During the proceedings, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that even if the petition gets accepted, it can be nullified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).

He further asked, “Why should this court conduct hearing upon these petitions.”

Politicians should refrain from fighting their political battles in court, said Athar Minallah.
