Power tariff for Karachiites likely go up by over Rs4

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The power tariff for the people of Karachi is likely to increase more than Rs 4.80 per unit in the first quarter of the current year, while the power tariff likely to decrease by 75 paisa per unit under monthly fuel adjustment in November is likely to decrease.

NEPRA heard two different pleas to increase the price of electricity by Rs5.50 in the first quarter of the current financial year July to September and November 2021 under fuel adjustment.

K-Electric has filed a plea for an increase of Rs 5.18 per unit in electricity price in the quarterly adjustment, but NEPRA officials said that K-Electric s quarterly adjustment would increase the price of electricity by Rs 4.80 per unit.

The quarterly adjustment consists of Rs 4.30 capacity charges, while according to NEPRA data, the quarterly adjustment will affect consumers. Likewise, the K-Electric had requested an increase of 32 paisa per unit in electricity price in the context of November s monthly fuel adjustment.
