JUI-F leader Maulana Ameer Zaman dies at 69

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) senior leader and former federal minister Maulana Ameer Zaman has died at the age of 69 years old in Quetta on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the party confirmed the news. He was being treated for diabetes and chest infection in a private hospital in the Balochistan capital. His body was sent to his home town, Loralai for burial.

It is pertinent to mention here that Maulana Ameer Zaman was thrice elected to the provincial assembly and once he was elected to the National Assembly.

Maulana Ameer Zaman was born in Loralai in 1952. He started his political journey on a JUI-F ticket from National Assembly elections in 2002 but defeated, after which he contested election from the provincial assembly but could not succeed.

He was elected member of National Assembly from NA-263 Loralai in 2013 and was part of the cabinet of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of PML-N in 2017 and took charge of the Ministry of Postal Services.

The JUI-F leader passed away in Loralai today after a short illness.

Expressing grief over the demise of the JUI-F leader, Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal said that his services to the people would always be remembered.

The Balochistan Assembly members offered Fateha for the departed soul and extended sympathies to the bereaved family members.
