NA deputy speaker expresses sorrow over loss of lives in Quetta blast

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri Sunday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in the blast took place near Mastung Road in Quetta.

In a message, the Deputy Speaker strongly condemned the blast and directed the concerned officials to provide all possible medical facilities to those injured in the blast.

“Anti-national elements are trying to sabotage the peace of Balochistan, however, they will not succeed in their nefarious aims,” Qasim Khan Suri said.

He said that the elements involved in the blast are enemies of humanity and will be dealt with iron fists.

He also directed the law enforcement agencies to arrest the people involved in the blast and punish them severely according to the law.

Expressing heartfelt sympathies to the affected families, the Deputy Speaker prayed to Allah Almighty for elevation of ranks of those martyred in the blast.

“May Allah grant speedy recovery to the injured and patience to the bereaved to bear this irreparable loss”, Deputy Speaker said.

Earlier in the day, at least four killed while 19 sustained severe wounds when a suicide bomber on a motorbike blew himself up on Quetta’s Mastung Road.

The bomber targeted Frontier Constabulary guards in the Mian Ghundi neighbourhood of the city, around 140 kilometers (87 miles) from the frontier with Afghanistan.

The security personnel immediately launched rescue operation and shifted the victims to hospital for medical assistance.

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said that it was a suicide attack in which 5kg explosive material was used. Emergency has also been declared in all the hospitals of Quetta.

Moroever, police officers cordoned off the entire area.

On the other hand, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan condemned the suicide attack on Mastung Road in Quetta and extended condolences to the families of the martyrs. He also prayed for the recovery of the injured.

Governor Balochistan Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha and Home Minister Balochistan Ziaullah Langu also strongly condemned the blast and sought report into the tragic incident.

In their separate condemnation statements, they said terrorists would not succeed in their nefarious plans.
