Seven areas in Islamabad put on smart lockdown
The lockdown will be continued from August 30 till the next order.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The authorities in federal capital Islamabad on Monday have imposed smart lockdown in seven areas due to increasing cases of coronavirus.
According to details, eight streets of sector G-9/3 have been closed while sectors G-7/2, I-10/2, G-9/1, E-11/4 and I-10/4 have also been sealed.
The lockdown will be continued from August 30 till the next order.
The decision came after Pakistan reported 66 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,156,281. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 25,670 on Monday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 3,800 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 11,823 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,834 in Sindh, 4,944 in KP, 863 in Islamabad, 695 in Azad Kashmir, 338 in Balochistan, and 173 in GB.
Furthermore, 430,594 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 391,297 in Punjab, 161,381 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 98,951 in Islamabad, 32,200 in Balochistan, 31,988 in Azad Kashmir and 9,870 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 17,704,220 coronavirus tests and 56,279 in the last 24 hours. 1,036,921 patients have recovered in the country whereas 5,612 patients are in critical condition.
