Punjab govt to send recommendations to NCOC for reopening of shrines
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has decided to send recommendations to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), for reopening of the shrines under SOPs.
In Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan, 189 shrines managed by the endowment department were closed amid rising Covid-19 cases. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid at the Civil Secretariat.
The meeting also reviewed the situation of Coronavirus, medical facilities in hospitals and vaccination campaign. It was also decided to seek permission from the NCOC for vaccination of students between the ages of 16 to 18 years.
Addressing the meeting, provincial health minister said that the number of cases was increasing during the fourth wave of Covid-19. According to the data, 88% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated.
"Patients who have received a single dose are in a better condition than those who have not been vaccinated," said minister.
She said, statistics show that the vaccine is very effective against virus. The federal government has provided 11 oxygen generators to the Punjab Health Department, she added.
