Heavy downpour in different areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital of Lahore.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Heavy rain accompanied by strong wind lashed Lahore and several other cities of the country in the wee hours of Friday, Dunya News reported.

Heavy downpour in different areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital of Lahore and residence faced immense difficulties as rainwater entered houses in low lying areas.

Dozens of LESCO feeders tripped due to heavy rain and strong wind in the city, resulting in power outage in various areas. Almost half of the city was without electricity.

Rain was also reported from other parts of the country including Muredke, Sukheke, Chiniot, Mardan and various other cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

- Three killed in rain-related incidents in Mardan -

At least three persons were killed and 15 other sustained injuries in roof and wall collapse incidents in different parts of Mardan due to heavy rain and wind storm.





According to details, roof of a madrassa collapsed in Narshak area of Mardan killing a teacher and a student while a number of students sustained injuries.

In another incident, a man was killed and two other were wounded when wall of a house collapsed in Akhtarabad area. At least eight students were wounded when wall of a madrassa collapsed in Chakarwapal Hoti area. A woman also sustained injuries due to wall collapse in Haji Koroona area.
