Karachi likely to face complete lockdown amid virus surge

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Amid growing number of Covid-19 cases mainly in Karachi, the authorities were considering imposing complete lockdown to prevent the spread of pandemic in the metropolis.
According to sources, there has been a worrying increase in Covid-19 cases in Karachi as the positivity rate exceeded 30 percent.
The medical experts and Sindh Health Department have recommended the Task Force to impose complete lockdown.
Sources said that a complete lockdown is likely to be recommended for 15 days across the city.
The final decision on the lockdown will be taken at the meeting of the Provincial Coronavirus Task Force on Friday.
Health department officials said that 70 to 80 patients were being shifted to ventilators on a daily basis in Karachi and the graph is increasing and a complete lockdown can be applied to the city.
