Shehbaz Sharif decides to convene APC on election bill

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly has decided to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) on the controversial government election bill.

On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari supported the move by opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif to convene an APC during a telephonic conversation with the PML-N president.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that they fully support Shehbaz s initiative adding that the proposal is timely and appropriate.

Bilawal said the APC could be an important opportunity to build a national consensus on holding transparent, fair and free elections.

According to sources an all-party conference will be convened on the controversial government election bill, the date of the APC will be decided soon after consultation with all the opposition parties.

All political parties belonging to the opposition will be invited to the APC along with the civil society and media including the Election Commission.

Various organizations and institutions which monitor the election and its process will also be invited.
