General David Petraeus has said that good relations with Pakistan are very important for US.

Speaking in Paris on his way to his new job as CIA chief, General David Petraeus said that Pakistan wanted to eliminate al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.However difficult the relationship may be its one we need to continue to work, its one where we need to recognise what our Pakistani partners have done, theyve sacrificed several thousand soldiers and police and their civilians have suffered substantial levels of violence, he said.General Petraeus admitted that gains in Afghanistan remained fragile and the renewed insurgency is no surprise.
