Govt, opposition discuss code of conduct for running proceedings of NA

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - After the ruckus in the National Assembly, the first formal contact has taken place between the leaders of the government and opposition parties in which the code of conduct for running the proceedings of the House was discussed.

According to sources, a delegation of the four-member government committee met the opposition members on the instructions of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. The government committee includes Amir Dogar, Ali Muhammad Khan, Khalid Magsi and Iqbal Muhammad Ali.

The government delegation said that they want steps to be taken to uphold democratic behavior in the House. Parliamentary proceedings must be conducted in accordance with the Code of Conduct.

Opposition leaders, however, declined to immediate further talks and apologized to give names to the committee, while seeking time to consult the party leadership.
