PM Imran deplores rumpus in National Assembly

Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday deplored rumpus in National Assembly session that saw hurling of the budget books and use of foul language.

According to details, Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser met Prime Minister Imran Khan and briefed him on the happenings during the National Assembly session that saw hurling of the budget books and use of foul language.

Asad Qaiser informed the prime minister that lawmakers from opposition as well as treasury benches were involved in the rumpus and said that he would take an across-the-board action against lawmakers irrespective of their affiliations.

The speaker said that the footage of the session has been reviewed in the presence of deputy speaker and secretary of the assembly.

Ali Nawaz Awan, a member of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), hit Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar with a book on the face after heated exchange of words.

As soon as Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif begins his speech in the National Assembly, there was a commotion from the government benches in the House and the government members stood on their seats.

Federal ministers Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry were also among the sloganeers. On this occasion, PML-N members formed a fence around the opposition leader.

NA Speaker Asad Qaiser urged treasury and opposition benches to show restraint but failed to control the situation, after which he had to adjourn the session for 20 minutes.
