PML-N's Marriyum accuses PM Imran of seeking to impose presidential system

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday while declaring the government’s electoral amendments an attack on Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of seeking to abolish the parliamentary system of democracy and impose a presidential system.

In a statement issued on Sunday, she said that such amendments were contrary to the political and ideological thinking of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, adding that they are against the decisions of the Supreme Court, the basic structure and concept of the Constitution.

The PML-N spokesperson went on to say that the selected PM wants to deprive 220 million people of their right to vote.

Marriyum said that this is not a law but a national plan of electoral fraud that the  electoral college  of certain people would become everything. “The government made from the RTS wants to get rid of the public vote,” she said and added whoever government wants will win after these amendments.

The PML-N leader further said that these amendments were aimed at creating no confidence over public wisdom, constitutional authority and imposition of authoritarian rule, adding that the amendments will deprive the ECP of the power to annul the election and conduct an inquiry.
