Punjab govt determined to vaccinate 7 crore people till end of this year: Dr Yasmin

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Friday has said that the provincial government is determined to vaccinate seven crore people against coronavirus till the end of this year.

In a statement, the minister said that the district administration has set a target to vaccinate over 0.4 people on daily basis. So far, 11 percent population in Punjab has administered coronavirus vaccine, she told.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 83 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 928,588. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 21,105.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 1,893 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

341,390 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 321,425 in Sindh, 133,746 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 81,540 in Islamabad, 25,476 in Balochistan, 19,388 in Azad Kashmir and 5,623 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 13,420,779 coronavirus tests and 52,859 in the last 24 hours. 856,005 patients have recovered in the country whereas 3,557 patients are in critical condition.
